Condition

Very good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. As very frequently done (meaning often) with reliquary Fang figures, the tenon to hold the figure has been cut off but its tip is part of the original one though.

Le Docteur Gaston Durville constitua, durant la première moitié du XXsiècle, une remarquable collection d'archéologie, d'art d'Extrême-Orient et d'art africain. Dans ce domaine, il se spécialisa en particulier dans les arts Fang, alors appelés « Pahouins », dont il devint un expert reconnu et auxquels il consacra une série de conférences données en 1933 à la Galerie Richer, à Paris.
