Catalogue Note
Le Père Gabriel Clamens est célèbre pour avoir, avec le Père Michel Convers, sauvé à l'orée des années 1950 parmi les plus grands chefs-d’œuvre de la statuaire Sénufo, abandonnés par les populations lors de leur conversion au culte synthétique du massa. Il fut le premier à publier, en 1953, ces bagues Nyi-kar-yi (dites « anneaux de silence »), insignes des guérisseurs et utilisées lors de l'initiation des jeunes hommes à la société du lô. Celle-ci, remarquable, se distingue par la superbe ampleur de la tête de buffle sur laquelle trois oiseaux sont posés, et par la très grande finesse de la fonte.
