Very good overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Thin cracks and superficial losses to the edges, a few chips to the polychromy.

Ce bouclier comptait parmi les joyaux de la collection pionnière que Marc et Denyse Ginzberg dédièrent à l’art africain non figuratif.
Le cadre rectangulaire - composé de plusieurs bandes d’écorce de palmier renforcées par un tressage en rotin - , impose la beauté abstraite de son décor pictural : sur le fond sombre de l'enduit se détache une bande unilatérale composée de carrés blancs disposés en quinconce. A la modernité de l'image répond la haute signification des matières et du décor, « indiquant l’appartenance et le statut [...] de son propriétaire » (Elsen, De fer et de fierté. Armes blanches d’Afrique noire du musée Barbier-Mueller, 2003, p. 13).
