Condition

This work appears to be in generally good overall condition. Colours are warmer compared to catalogue illustration. The work is relined. There are few minor paint losses by the centre of the lower margin toward left. Other minor paint losses along the lower margin toward right and by the centre of the left margin. There are few minor threadlike and stable craquelures along the margins, mostly toward the centre of the right margin. Under the UV light are visible four retouchings: by the lower left corner and toward the centre of the left margin.

Da artista, Tancredi non si è mai confinato entro i limiti formali dell’opera; da uomo, non ha mai limitato il proprio pensiero a condizioni o vincoli. Si potrebbe dire che questa febbrile ricerca della libertà sia la motrice di tutta la sua creazione, in cui forma e colore interagiscono in una danza aerea, dinamica e infinita.

L’opera Senza Titolo del 1953 presenta uno spazio pittorico, dapprima scomposto e poi ricostruito, nel quale Tancredi sprigiona con forza e maestria tutta la capacità rivelatrice del mezzo. Pennellate in ritmi curvi creano tramature che sembrano tracciare un labirinto di convergenze, scandagliando all’infinito lo spazio. “Cercavo così, in un primo tempo, di dare delle ‘impressioni’ di Spazio che dessero l’idea di un Universo curvo, la materia del quale era filtrata attraverso la Luce”. Ed ecco che i tratti di luce e le velate trasparenze fanno emergere una tensione luminosa dando corpo alle sensazioni dell’artista, mentre affiorano epifanie visive nell’ordine transiente e lirico di un infinito sciame cosmico.

As an artist, Tancredi has never confined himself within the formal limits of art; as a man, he has never limited his thought to any conditions or restrictions. One could say that this feverish quest for freedom is the driver of his entire creation, in which form and colour interact in an aerial, dynamic and infinite dance.

The work "Untitled" of 1953 presents a pictorial space, first decomposed and then reconstructed, in which Tancredi unleashes with great strength and skill all the revelatory capacity of the medium. Brushstrokes in curved rhythms create textures that seem to trace a labyrinth of convergences, thereby fathoming space to the infinite. “I was attempting, at first, to give 'impressions' of Space that could convey the idea of a curved Universe, of which the matter was filtered through the Light." (Tancredi Parmeggiani)

And as such, the traits of light and veiled transparencies induce a bright tension, giving substance to the artist's feelings, while visual epiphanies arise in the transient and lyrical order of an infinite cosmic swarm.
