Catalogue Note

signed 'ODILON REDON' (lower centre); pastel on paper. Executed circa 1912-1916.

This elegant and poetic arrangement of flowers is a particularly elegant composition by Redon. It belonged Gustave Fayet, the renowned collector, patron and friend of the artist who put together the first and finest comprehensive collection of works by Redon. He commissioned Redon to paint murals for his library at the Abbaye de Fontfroide.
