Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration although the yellow is slightly deeper in the original work. Each work is executed on its original canvas and is not relined. Under Ultra Violet light inspection there is no evidence of restoration. These works are in very good condition.

C’est lors de la FIAC d’octobre 1977 à Paris, première présentation au public de la série des Torses, que Semiha Huber fit l’acquisition de ces cinq œuvres. Emblématiques dans l’œuvre de l’inventeur du Pop Art, les tableaux des torses qui revisitent le Grand Art du nu se caractérisent presque tous par des applications de peinture très gestuelles et des stries exécutées du bout du doigt le long des contours.


Catalogue note
Semiha Huber acquired these five works during the first public presentation of the Torso series at the FIAC, in October 1977 in Paris. These emblematic works by the founder of Pop art feature expressionistically applied pigment and finder-painted striations around the edges of the figures.
