Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration although the overall tonality is warmer in the original work, especially the white background. The work is executed on its original canvas is not relined. There are networks of thin, hairline cracks on the white paint, mainly located on the left side of the work and on the upper right quadrant. Some areas of thin cracks have been consolidated, mainly visible at the center of the composition in the darker impastos, on the lower right quadrant, and on the yellow area on the upper right quadrant. Under Ultra Violet light inspection three spots of restoration fluoresce, two located on the rim of the upper edge, at the top of the black brushstrokes, and the third on the rim of the lower edge, at the bottom of the black brushstroke.

Catalogue Note

- Rona Kopeczky

"Judith Reigl's oeuvre should be understood as a process, and this process is also the title of one of her painting series. The essence of various series is determined by the viewpoint of the artist [...] from the Big Bang and the evolution of the universe, through the advent of man, all the way to the microcosm. Pieces from [this series, Eclatement] refer to cosmic vistas and physical laws - energy fields, the Big Bang, and kinetic, centripetal, centrifugal, gravitational and condensational enegies. From this point of view, Judit Reigl's painting demonstrates a kinship with American abstract expressionism."
