Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration although the overall tonality has less yellow undertones in the original work. The work was inspected framed. There is an artist's pinhole in each of the four corners, visible only under very close inspection. A small tear (3 cm approx.) located on at the center of the upper edge has been carefully restored and is visible in the catalogue illustration. This work is in very good condition.

Catalogue Note

"L'image de l'escalier est elle-même d'une richesse et d'une simplicité déconcertantes - symbolique et poétique à la fois, évidente et cependant diabolique."

"The richness and simplicity of the image of the staircase is baffling - symbolic and poetic at the same time, obvious and yet diabolic."
