one side painted in two registers, the lower register with confronted cocks and a lotus bud motif flanked by roaring lions, the upper with a deer flanked by geese, the other side painted in two registers, the lower with confronted cocks and a lotus bud motif, the upper with a panther flanked by sirens, a frieze of lotus buds and palmettes below the rim, rays above the foot, the details in added red and white; accession no. 22.2, old inventory no. 197.

Condition

Repaired from large and a few small fragments, with in-painting along the break-lines and where a few small areas are missing. The added red has some over-painting. One handle repaired across the top, small chips and abrasions to the glaze on the rim, the glaze on the foot partially misfired and abraded, a large area of misfiring on the lower left part of one side. Much of the painting is in good condition, including the faces of the sirens. Old ink and pencil numbers and a label underneath.
