- A Funerary Stele inscribed for Julia Banona, Norica (Austria)

composed of a medallion with portrait bust of a woman within a laurel border resting on a rectangular panel with funerary inscription, the deceased wearing traditional local garb and accessories, including a tunic, mantle falling from the shoulders, fibulae, and torque with lunula pendant, her centrally-parted hair pulled back over the ears and surmounted by a cap, the panel engraved with four lines of Latin inscription reading Iuliae T(iberi) fil(iae) / Banonae / M(arcus) Ulpius Attio / matri optimae ("Marcus Ulpius Attio [commissioned this] for his excellent mother Julia Banona, daughter of Tiberius"); no restorations.

Christoph von Moro (1742-1823), Viktring, Carinthia, Austria, owner of a textile mill once part of the adjacent Abbey of Viktring (Johann Gottfried Kumpf (1781-1862) recorded the inscription prior to 1829, when the monument was displayed "over the door of the factory building, on the second floor")

As shown. Note missing lower corner of base and deep dent across proper right edge of medallion frame. Relief decoration of overlapping leaves along front edge of medallion mostly weathered away. Chips, scratches, and abrasions overall. Back of medallion carved in a parabolic shape. Back of inscribed base beveled.
