Depicted with snake in its talons symbolizing Justice and Tyranny.  Made circa 1780-1800.

Condition

The gesso is showing through the gilding. Several of the scales on serpent have losses. Hole on the right side where it was previously mounted and a ring hanger on the back. There is a yellow wash across the back of the piece.
