Condition
Oil on canvas. Canvas is lined. SURFACE: in good condition aside from fine craquelure thoughout (more noticeable in face and proper right hand of sitter); a slight indentation to surface about 1 1/2 in. from upper part of right edge; surface is slightly pressed and abraded. UNDER UV: There is an old varnish which is hard to see through; work has been selectively cleaned at one time; there are multiple layers of inpainting and scattered inpainting throughout the proper left side of the face and beard.
