Catalogue Note
The original equestrian portrait of John Wayne as Rooster Cogburn was commissioned by Time Magazine for the cover of the August 8, 1969 issue. Jackson reworked the model for over ten years, resulting in the present work, The Marshall Five Foot. This edition is the largest of the sizes in which the portrait was cast, in an edition of 24, half of which were hand-painted and half given a single color patina.
