Catalogue Note

Between 1922-24, Edgar Alwin Payne and his wife, Elsie, painted and traveled extensively throughout western Europe. His most notable works from this period were of harbors in Brittany and the Swiss Alps. In 1923, the same year this work was created, Payne entered another view of the Alps into the Paris Salon and earned an Honorable Mention.
