Condition

Overall very good condition. The wood surfaces appear to have been refinished as some point in the histories of the stools and present with some minor surface scratches, abrasions, and occasional discolorations commensurate with age and gentle use. One stool with a small restoration to one leg on the elbow and a small area of rubbing on another leg at mid-height, each measuring no more than ½ inch in length and not visually distracting. The stools are an assembled pair and were likely produced at different times. The leather seats are likely original with some minor surface scratches, minor scuffs, and a few slight discolorations commensurate with age and gentle use. Discolorations to one stool are concentrated around the tacks. The brass elements of each stool with some light surface scratches; one stool with some oxidation visible in the catalogue illustration. A great example of Robsjohn-Gibbings’ neoclassical aesthetic, designed circa 1960.
