Condition

Overall in very good condition. When viewed in person, the wood surfaces present with rich figuring and a warmer palette than seen in the catalogue illustration, less orange. The wood has been refinished and presents with a few surface scratches, minor abrasions and light surface soiling consistent with age and gentle use. The macassar ebony veneer with a few minor isolated hairline cracks from the natural drying of the wood. The proper right side with a small restoration to the veneer along the lower edge, only visible upon close inspection. The shelves on each side of the bookcase have been replaced at some point. The silvered bronze key hole has been sensitively resilvered at some point and is in good condition with a few minor surface scratches and minute abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. With a key, likely orignal. The interior in oak, in very good condition, with three adjustable shelves. The interior of the proper right foot is slightly warped with a small hairline horizontal crack, at three quarter from the bottom of the door. A very elegant piece, coming from one of Ruhlmann' special commission.
