Condition
Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces have been revarnished and present with a few minor surface scratches, edge abrasions and a few minor discolorations consistent with age and gentle use. The edges with a few minor scattered losses, some of which have been sensitively restored, not at all visually distracting. The perimeter of the seat back with several scattered horizontal and vertical cracks in the veneer, all stable and not visually distracting. The edges of the legs with a few minor chips and abrasions consistent with age and use. The gilt metal with rubbing, minor surface scratches and a few minor abrasions. The bergère has been reupholstered and the upholstery is in very good condition with light surface soiling consistent with age and gentle use. A sculptural chair with extraordinary presence when viewed in person. The curviness of the seatback contrasts beautifully with the square legs.
