Description

  • René Lalique
  • Flower Comb
  • signed LALIQUE
  • horn, gold, glass

Condition

Overall in good condition. When viewed in person, the horn and glass display beautiful nuances and great poetic presence. The horn surfaces with a few minor and shallow surface scratches, minute abrasions and light surface soiling commensurate with age and gentle use. The proper left tooth of the comb with a minor and very sensitively undertaken restoration at the top, only visible upon close inspection. The glass with light surface soiling commensurate with age and gentle use. The upper petal of the proper right flower has possibly been polished at some point in the history of the piece. An extremely delicate design, which epitomizes René Lalique's Art Nouveau sensibility at the beginning of his career.
