Condition

Overall in very good original condition. When viewed in person, the horn presents with greater nuances and more weight than seen in a catalogue illustration. The horn surfaces with a few minor and shallow scattered surface scratches and light surface dirt to the recessed areas commensurate with age and gentle use. The cicada displays extraordinary detailing to the carving to the front and reverse of the letter opener. A masterful example of Lalique talent for decorative objects, with great provenance.
