Literature

Paul Crist, Mosaic Shades, Volume II, Santa Fe Springs, CA, 2005, p. 61

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 8 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. All of these hairlines appear tight and stable. The patinated metal base is in very good condition, displaying particularly fine casting details to the highly sculptural composition of the tree-form design. The base with light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design and very gentle rubbing to the raised contours commensurate with age. Lacking cord bushing where the cord extends from the lower region of the base. All three sockets appear to be old replacements. Two of the sockets are lacking their pull chains but are functional; the third socket with a later replaced pull chain. The top heat cap and finial knop which support the shade appear to be replaced. A beautiful lamp with strong sculptural presence. When seen in person the colors are slightly richer and more nuanced than seen in the catalogue photograph.
