The shade with approximately 9 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, all which appear tight and stable. The shade, base, heat cap and sockets all appear to have originated together, as supported by their complementary gilt patina. The gilt bronze base with some occasional light surface scratches, abrasions, rubbing to the patina (most prevalent along the perimeter side of the base cushion), and surface soiling to the recessed contours consistent with age and gentle use. All three sockets appear original and undisturbed; two of the paddle switches are old replacements. The period gilt heat cap with a few shallow adjacent bruises along one quadrant of the lower rim, and with light wear and rubbing to the exterior surfaces and upper knop. A very harmonious unit displaying well balanced proportions, and a lovely example of this dynamic shade model with an artistic glass selection. When viewed firsthand the colors in the shade are more subtle and nuanced than seen in the catalogue photograph, which is slightly over saturated and slightly too red.
