Condition

Overall in very good original condition. This piece displays an extraordinary top of Persian walnut with incredibly rich and detailed figuring ranging from rich russet browns, warm caramel, vibrant red and subtle green hues. This is a highly saturated wood selection, and a rare wood used by Nakashima. This work has a finished reverse and is therefore not required for use against the wall. The top presents with a few small and minor surface scratches and edge abrasions consistent with gentle use, and some very light fading from sun exposure. The current condition of this piece demonstrates the care and attention of the previous owner. A wonderful freeform shape to the top that further emphasizes the deeply sculptural qualities of this piece. The lower portion of the feet with expected minor surface scratches and some light surface dirt. The pandanus cloth of the doors is in excellent condition. The interior is fitted with four adjustable shelves. This work was acquired at the same time as lots 120 and 121 and has the same wood selection. A wonderful work that shows the expertise of Nakashima’s craftsmanship paired with an extraordinary wood selection. A superb example.
