Description
- Tiffany Studios
- Counter-Balance Desk Lamp
- shade engraved L.C.T. Favrile
base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/417 - favrile glass and patinated bronze
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The shade is finely decorated with vigorous wave-form decoration, and the shade exterior is beautifully iridized, imparting the shade with strong luminosity and brilliant jewel-tone hues when viewed with reflected light. The top aperture rim of the shade with some minor shallow surface chips, quite commonly seen in these lamps and not at all visible when the shade is installed. There is faint rubbing on the shade exterior just outside the top aperture rim from continued contact over time with the base mount. The patinated bronze surfaces of the shade display a particularly rich green and russet brown patina. The bronze surfaces throughout with some occasional surface scratches, abrasions and light rubbing to the patina consistent with age and gentle use. The socket and paddle switch appears to be original and undisturbed. A fine example displaying a particularly well-articulated shade with strong coloration and iridescence.
