Description
- Léon & Maurice Jallot
- Armchair and Ottoman
- ottoman with branded artist's monogram
- Macassar ebony and silk velvet upholstery
Provenance
Macklowe Gallery, New York
Condition
Overall in good condition. When viewed in person, the silk of the upholstery on the lower portion of the pieces is a nuanced light green with nuances of grey, violet and blue. The wooden surfaces with some shallow scratches, a few minor abrasions and light surface dirt consistent with age and gentle use. The wood shows some evidence of drying as expected with the natural ageing of the wood. The front edges of the armchairs and the upper edges of the ottoman with a few evidences of sensitively undertaken restorations to the Macassar ebony, which do not affect the solidity of the pieces. The pieces have been reupholstered and the upholstery is in good condition with minor surface dirt and wear consistent with age and gentle use. A very stylish piece displaying a beautiful figuring to the wood.
