Overall in condition consistent with age and use. As seen in the catalogue illustration, the vellum presents with some traces of wear, staining, discoloration, some tears and minor losses, some surface scratches and tear as expected with use and the material. Some of the tears following the line of constructions of the pedestal. The vellum with lifting in some area, notably to the top of the pedestal and to the bottom of the vellum covered portions. Some side of the panels with fading to the painted decoration, however the decoration presents some great pictural details. The wood with some surface scratches, edge abrasions, areas of discoloration and surface dirt and with a few minor edge losses. An area of losses along the edge of the lower tier, visible on the right of the catalogue illustration, along approximately 2 ½ inches. The lower tier with separation of the construction seams, one of them with reinforcements underneath. The metal inlays with minor lifting, a few losses and discoloration throughout. The copper with minor surface scratches, oxidizing and surface dirt throughout. Please contact the department for additional photographs. This pedestal is a good example of the collaboration between Bugatti and Pellegrini which would benefit from a professional conservation.
