Condition
The canvas has been lined. The picture presents well and is overall in good condition. There are scattered lines of hairline craquelure, notably visible in the girls' bodies. There are spots of paint flaking - which appear unstable and would benefit from stabilisation - along the upper edge above the head of the girl to the right, in the upper right quadrant to the girl's right and in the far lower right corner, covered by the frame. Ultra-violet light reveals an opaque discoloured varnish which makes the surface difficult to read. However, scattered spots of retouching are visible notably in both girls' legs, in the white sheet to the left and to the pillar to the far right.
