Condition
The original panel is cradled and is flat, even, and ensuring a stable support. There is some rubbing along the extreme framing edges, mostly covered by the frame, and one small white spot in the center of the composition which appears to be a small piece of fabric adhered to the surface (visible in the catalogue illustration). Ultra-violet light reveals strokes of retouching along the extreme edges addressing frame rubbing, some very small scattered spots in the sky, and a small area in the sky in the center right edge. Although minor, considering the size of the picture, this has faintly discoloured in time and is also visible to a naked eye. However it is not too distracting. The picture is in good overall condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
The colours are richer and deeper than in the catalogue illustration.
