Condition
The canvas has been relined. The picture presents very well and is ready to hang. There is some scattered very fine hairline craquelure in the sky, mostly only visible upon close inspection. Ultra-violet light reveals scattered fine lines of in-painting in the aforementioned craquelure notably in the sky, between the masts to the centre of the composition, a small area in the small house to the centre (possibly addressing some old repair) and some strokes to the far lower right corner. There also appears to be some strengthening in the clouds to the upper right.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
The colours are deeper and richer than in the catalogue illustration.
