Condition

The canvas has not been lined. There is a pattern of light craquelure throughout the canvas, and one small spot of flaking in the foot of the lady to the right, as visible in the catalogue illustration. Ultra-violet light reveals scattered strokes of carefully applied retouching, notably to the boys to the left, to the little girl in the foreground and to the lady to the right of the composition. Although slightly discoloured, this retouching is not particularly distracting given the dimension of the canvas. The picture is otherwise in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
