Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There is some drying craquelure in some of the darker pigments, however this is very light, not disturbing and the picture presents quite well. A very small pin hole is visible to the far lower right corner. Ultra-violet light reveals areas of uneven fluorescence due to old residual varnish which make the surface quite difficult to read. There is an area of retouching around the girls' hands, two small spots in the chin of the girl to the centre and in the right cheek of the little girl, one small spot and some very fine lines addressing the craquelure towards the upper left corner. The work is otherwise in good condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
Colours in reality are slightly deeper and brighter.
