Condition

This work is restored. The varnish is slightly dull, but the painting can be hung in its current condition. The canvas has been lined. There is a linen backing to the lining that is not actually adhered to the reverse of the painting. The surface is stable. The work may have been cautiously cleaned in the darkest areas, which one would expect. There are a few small tiny spots of retouching in the upper right and upper left in the sky. The artist used a good deal of transparent color in the trees, which may have become slightly weaker over time. The condition is good for this kind of work.
