Condition
The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work has not been cleaned or otherwise attended to in many years. The paint layer is clearly dirty. The lining is old. The paint layer is stable. Some old retouches are slightly visible in the neck of the figure, and there seems to be a retouch or two in the back of her figure. None of these are of any concern. There is slight interference to the paint layer from the dark ground color in the neck of the figure, very slightly in the shadowed side of her face, and in her right forearm. If and when the picture is cleaned, these areas may need a small amount of accurate retouching. Nonetheless, the condition and quality of the painting are generally very attractive.
