Catalogue Note

The Diane Victorieuse, first exhibited at the Salon in plaster in 1885, is Carrier-Belleuse's last masterpiece. The marble and bronze versions date to 1887, the year of his death. The fineness of texture and the quality of the modelling all show Carrier-Belleuse at his technical and decorative best.
