Condition

Overall, the condition of the terracotta is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is a slip to the surface which may conceal some condition points. Possible joints are visible to both shoulders. There are a few very minor nicks and scratches.There are some very small lacunae, consistent with the casting technique, notably to the proper right thigh and the proper left eyelid. There are a few very minor firing fissures, consistent with the material, notably around the pubis. There are a few minor chips at the edges and high points, including the front edge of the terrasse and to the foliage at the back. There is a small area of particular dirt to the proper left temple. There is some general wear to the ebonised wood base, including some minor stable splitting, consistent with the material, and particular wear to the edges.
