Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is excellent with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is some blue wax to the interior of the large jar. There is some minor dark spotting to the bronze. There is a sticker residue to the back of the base at the lower right corner and some wear to the patina here.

Catalogue Note
The Acquaiolo was commissioned from Vincenzo Gemito by the former King of the Two Sicilies, Francesco II, and first modelled in 1881. For his masterful portrayal of a Neapolitan street urchin, Gemito, who came from a humble background, undoubtedly drew on his own experience in the streets of Naples.
