Description
- Aristide Petrilli
- Allegory of Gambling
- signed and dated: APetrilli / Firenze / 97
- white marble, on a veined grey marble base
Condition
Overall, there is minor dirt and wear consistent with age. The fingers on the proper right hand appear to be reattached and restored and it is possible that the tip of the proper left middle finger may be reattached. The surface is dry in areas which may suggest that the marble has been outside at some point. The sculpture is composed of three sections: the bust, the base with games pieces and the portoro base. As such, there are stable joints including where the bust meets the games pieces where there are some residues of fill visible. There is minor veining to the marble consistent to the material including to the proper right arm. There are a few minor chips and abrasions to the base. There is a slightly open vein to the right die. Otherwise the condition is very good.
