Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is particular dirt to the tree stump and the terrasse. There are a few small naturally occurring inclusions, including to the chignon, to the proper left buttock and to the proper left knee.

Catalogue Note

Lucien Alliot studied under Louis-Ernest Barrias and Jules Félix Coutan. He became a regular exhibitor at the Salon des Artistes Français, obtaining the gold medal in 1920. Alliot is best known for his figurative works which range from allegorical to religious in subject-matter.
