Condition

Overall very good condition consistent with age and gentle use. Very minor scattered scuffs to the door frames, with one or two deeper scratches professionally and sensitively restored. The hardware has been repolished. An impressive and historically important bookcase whose grandeur and intricacy are not fully realised in the catalogue image. Additonal images of the cabinet in situ are available upon request.

Catalogue Note

Hector Guimard's technical drawings of the library of the Hotel M. Nozal are in the permanent collection of the Musée d'Orsay, and in particular, the drawings of the library, accession nos GP 70-72 and GP 74-75, share strong similar stylistic qualities to the offered lot in both their form and overall design.

This lot is accompanied by a copy of a certificate of authenticity from Alain Blondel, authority on the work of Hector Guimard.
