painted in strong high-temperature colours probably in the Grue studio with a stag-hunting scene after Antonio Tempesta, an equestrian huntsman thrusting with his sword as the pack closes in, the everted rim with ochre-ground floral and blue vine-trail borders, the knopped stem and circular foot with a broad guilloche border in dark blue

Condition

A Castelli footed dish, late 17th century There is a 6cm. hairline crack across underside, not visible to front, and three small rim chips, the largest 1.7cm.
