Condition

Overall the condition of the ebony is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. Charity has lost the attribute held in her proper left hand, along with a portion of the hand. There are a few smaller losses, such as to the back of the proper left sleeve, to the drapery hanging by the proper right leg, and (possibly) to the front side of the terrasse. There is minor stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material, including at the drapery and arm at the proper right side and at the chest. A portion of the terrasse on the proper right side is carved separately. There is minor wear to the gilt wood base, including some small chips and abrasions; restoration to the back of the base,
