Condition
The support consists of a single, uncradled copper sheet. The sheet is flat. The paint surface is secure and clean. The colours are rich and vibrant. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an even varnish, as well as delicate and very small scattered retouchings.
The work is offered in a gilt molded renaissance style frame, with a few minor knocks and losses.

Catalogue Note
The design derives, perhaps by way of Philippe Galle's engraving of 1574, from Stradanus' Crucifixion in Santissima Annuziata, Florence, signed and dated 1569.1
