Catalogue Note
William de Morgan was a close friend of Ulisse Cantagalli, introducing him to influential craftsmen and to social connections, and spending half his year in Florence. He provided designs for the Cantagalli factory, as well as opening a decorating workshop himself. If he did not decorate this piece himself, certainly it shows the strong influence of his style.
