of cartouche form, carved of striated brown agate, the lid centred with a rose- and circular-cut diamond-set Imperial eagle, its escutcheon a pear-shaped ruby, the rim mount chased with wavy reeds and flowers, diamond-set thumbpiece, struck with workmaster's initials and Fabergé in Cyrillic, 56 standard, scratched inventory number 49089

Condition

Lacking gem thumbpiece. The lid with repaired 1.3 by 0.7cm D-shaped break. The hardstone surface of the lid with evidence of having previously been lacquered. The applied double eagle possibly later.
