rectangular, the glass panels decorated in gold on a red ground with figures strolling among palaces and parkland within scrolled borders, the interior of the lid with a bishop's coat of arms and initials: LB
Condition
much damaged to decoration, the underside lacking all the gold etching, side panels broken and lacking some glass sections, the glass inside is stained. very charming object however.

Catalogue Note
The arms are those of the Bonanomi family of Milan. The family originated in Cremona, providing two priests in the 18th century, an uncle and nephew, each with the first name Girolamo. The Milanese branch of the family provided a vicar-general of the region, Ercole Maria, in the early 19th century.
