Catalogue Note

These exquisite and intricate designs for salvers have been attributed to Luigi Valadier based on direct comparison with a design for an inkstand that is signed and dated 1764, in the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York. All three drawings are executed in the same media and are all very good examples of Luigi Valadier's late Roman baroque designs.
