Catalogue Note
Giacomo Antonio Moro was Master of the Papal Mint from 1610 to 1624 under Popes Pius V and Gregory XV. A relief with the Holy Family and Saints, also initialled GAM to the reverse, was attributed to him and sold at Christie's on 9 December 1980, lot 170. The present figure has a similar pose to the Christ in this relief. However, it is also worth noting the similarities, both stylistically and technically, with bronzes by Francesco Fanelli.
