Condition

Movement running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time and may need service at the buyer's discretion and expense. Case in overall excellent condition with no signs of polish. Very crisp edges. Case back with engraving "L.E. Graf Knudsen Award 1958." Dial in very good original condition. Movement in very good original condition. A beautiful example.

Established on May 28 1956, and first awarded in 1958, in honor of Carl Holst-Knudsen when he stepped down from Chairman of the Board of Aarhus University, the Rigmor & Carl Holst-Knudsen Award for Scientific Research is one of Denmark’s most prestigious science prizes. Since its first year it has been awarded annually on May 28 to a Danish researcher who has primarily worked with the Aarhus University and whose scientific research has produced significant results which promise to impact future research and findings.

The present lot was given to the first recipient of the award in its inaugural year.
