As seen in the catalogue illustration, the balustrade panel displays a rich brown and vibrant copper patina, consistent with the natural aging process of the copper-plated cast iron. This panel presents with some minor surface dirt to the recessed areas of the design and some scattered areas of discoloration throughout. There are remnants of a sensitive later clear finish that has been applied at some point in the history of the piece to enhance or stabilize the patina. The lower proper left quadrant of the overall design with minute traces of green paint. There are four screw holes (one in each quadrant) for securing the medallion and these are not visible in the catalogue illustration. There are some light scratches and minor rubbing to the patina adjacent the screw holes in the design. Please note that this work retains the original design concept and therefore comprises two distinct elements, which were abutted in the catalogue illustration.
