- "Nasturtium" Table Lamp
- shade with small early tag impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK
base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/365 - leaded glass and patinated bronze
with a "Mud Turtle" base
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 15-18 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, all which have been sensitively stabilized by a professional Tiffany conservator. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base display a particularly rich russet brown and green patina. The bronze surfaces throughout with light surface wear, rubbing and surface soiling consistent with age and gentle use. The top interior surfaces of the base cushion with some fatigue to the patina with some associated tiny surface losses. The three sockets all to be appear original and undisturbed; with one replaced paddle switch which appears to be quite old and from the period. With a later replaced finial which displays a corresponding patina to the base. The base wheel is lacking an interior threaded washer to properly secure the finial pin; as a result the finial is not firmly mounted above the shade. (If desired this could be easily rectified.) A particularly striking example of the model displaying a well-varied and highly saturated glass selection. The glass throughout the shade shows outstanding artistic nuance and vigorous mottling, heightening the visual depth and movement of the shade. When viewed firsthand the glass is much warmer with greater artistic nuance than seen in the catalogue illustrations. The Nasturtium blossoms are articulated in a wide range of hues including fiery orange, red, pink and golden yellow hues.
