Condition
Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 30-35 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the bottom floral register, and approximately 3 cracks to the glass tiles in the upper geometric register, all which appear stable. This is a relatively low number in proportion to the vast number of individual glass tiles which were required to execute this complex and monumental lamp pattern. A few of the dark green tiles in the bottom geometric border (approximately 8-9 tiles) appear to have been re-set and replaced with complementary period Tiffany glass. The shade has minor traces of surface soiling concentrated around the perimeter edges of the lead lines and to some of the recessed contours of the glass. The shade leading is finely executed and beautifully rendered, displaying a rich green and russet brown patina with light surface rubbing throughout. The patinated bronze surfaces of the Senior Scroll base display rich tonalities of russet brown with subtle green highlights. The bronze surfaces throughout with some occasional light surface scratches, surface abrasions and with a few very shallow bruises to the perimeter contours of the base cushion, all consistent with age and gentle handling. With some minor paint marks to the side contours of the cushion base, and with surface soiling to the recessed contours of the applied Scroll decoration. Five of the ten tiny screws which secure the base plate are presently missing (the base plate is still entirely stable). All six sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. The Pig Tail finial appears to be replaced, showing a complementary patina to the base with very gentle surface wear. A stunning example of this dynamic floral model, displaying a richly saturated color palette in the floral register and a gorgeous glass selection in the upper geometric register. The latter is articulated in translucent cobalt blue glass striated with hues of amethyst, green and white to simulate an impressionistic sky. The lamp displays beautifully in person with strong visual impact and elegance, and is far more luminous and dazzling when viewed in person than it appears in the catalogue illustrations.
